1. Position of paper1.3 in the overall syllabus:
Paper1.3 is a pre-requisite for Paper3.5
2.Corporate Analysis (An important part of Paper 3.5)

3.Objectives:
identify,understand and explain the complex interpersonal relationships that exist within organizations

explain the principles of successful team performance and the need to plan, monitor and evaluate team based work activities
investigate future personnel requirements and describe recruitment and selection procedures
understand and describe the principles of motivation
understand and describe the role and process of employee development
understand the need for clear and precise communication
explain the principles of effective counseling
describe the elements of disciplinary and grievance procedures
4.Format of Exam:
Section A: one compulsory Q
40marks 72minutes
Section B: four out of five Qs
60marks 108minutes
As there is a compulsory question, you need a broad understanding of all areas
Questions may be set across syllabus
There are no calculations
5.PAPer1.3 Managing people can be divided into 5 topics
(1) management and team development (chp1-8)
(2) recruitment and selection (chp9-15)
(3) training and development (chp16-22)
(4) motivation and leadership (chp23-24)
(5) communication practices (chp25-28)
Although the course is made up of a number of discrete topics ; exam questions require a knowledge of more than one of these topics.
